Location:
 Found on or near bottom

Social Behavior:  Solo, but will share a hole with a cabezon

Rough Day:  Stays in hole or goes deeper

Calm Day:   Hunts more and goes shallow, more time in open

Best Place to find them:  Tight hole on bottom which faces away from swell. Not a hole with a lot of head room

2nd Best place to find: Hunting ledge or back-up hole

How you know they're near:  School rockfish with visible bite-marks

Likes:  Eat other rockfish and rest after eating in hole. To change color to match surroundings

How to attract:  Noise and by shooting other fish, bloody fish scents

Reaction to a gunshot:  Sticks head out of hole

Will tolerate:  Living with big cabs

Hates:  Moving Sand, Kelp in home hole, Water movement in home

Meet Strategy:  Take them early if you can

How to hunt: Find rocky tight holes or cracks facing away from swell

Depths to hunt:  10 feet or deeper on bottom

Always remember:  The best hole always holds the biggest ling, year after year!!!
